Welcome to Wheeler County ARES

Wheeler County ARES is part of Oregon District 3 Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES).
District 3 ARES is one of 6 Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Districts within the State of Oregon.
The Districts structure, is comprised of non-profit public service Amateur Radio Volunteers (HAMS) who provide to Local, County, and State organizations, an Auxiliary Communications Service for emergencies or during situations that may dictate a need for supplemental Radio Communications.
Operating practices, are partly based from the operation procedures that are set by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) Field Services Organization, the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES®), and guidelines recommended by Federal, State, and County Emergency Management agencies for Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) operations.
